Kalavryta city faced a tragical massacre from Nazis during the 2nd World War οn December 13th 1943 when 1300 citizens were shot to death. There is a monument in memory for those who gave their lives for peace and freedom.
The city is small but alive with interesting night life especially during winter time
Ski Center:
During the winter you can visit the nearby Ski center, which is the one of the biggest and best facilitated in Greece. The Ski Center is 54 km far from Aigio through Kalavryta city, is located northwest of mountain Helmos at Vathia Lakka position and at a height between 1650m, and 2340m. It has seven teleferiques which can lift and move 5000 visitors per hour and it also has twelve stages of all levels (amateur, medium, professional etc.) of an approximate length of 20 km.
The Ski Center is open daily throughout the winter season, which usually begins around December and lasts till April.
